We are delighted to announce the open call for this year’s WolfWords anthology. The theme for this year’s collection is Voice.

Overview

We invite all Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çCollege members – staff, students, Fellows, Senior Members, alumni, and residential partners – to submit an original poem for consideration.

The anthology will be published in both online and print form in Easter term 2025.

You can read more about last year’s collection and view the online version of the printed publication.

There will be a Poetry Writing Workshop on Wednesday 5 February at 18.30 in the Gatsby Room, to help inspire and prompt writing on the theme. Seasoned poets and shy beginners all welcome!

Submitting work

You may submit work at any time from now until the deadline of 18.00 on Friday 21 March 2025.

If you would like to submit work for consideration, please read the guidelines below, and then .

We also ask you to supply a brief third-person biography, to give readers a sense of who you are and why you write.

Guidelines

  • The submission must be entirely your own work and should be previously unpublished. We do not require exclusive rights, and you are free to publish your work elsewhere after the publication of the Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çanthology.
  • ±Ê´Ç±ð³¾²õ should not exceed 30 lines (and short poems are very acceptable, too!)
  • Normally we will not publish more than one poem from any writer. We would make an exception for a sequence of short poems, but the 30-line limit will still apply to the entire sequence. We do encourage you to choose just one piece that you really like for submission. However, if you are unable to decide, you may submit two poems for consideration.
  • Your poem should ideally be in English, but if it is in another language, please supply a translation via email.

Artwork submissions

We also invite submissions of artwork or photographs on the theme (max 5 pieces). These may accompany a poem you have submitted or be standalone pieces. In either case, the work will be considered on its own merits, and the decision on the artwork will not affect any decision on a submitted poem, or vice versa. Again, this should be entirely your own work.

To submit artwork or photography, please , and then send your image(s) to  sro@wolfson.cam.ac.uk  with the subject, ‘Anthology Artwork Submission (and your name)’. Artwork must be supplied as a high-resolution image.

Publication

We will be in touch towards the end of April 2025, to let you know if your work has been selected.

If it is, we may make some editorial suggestions, but final decisions will be yours. We will then send you a final proof for checking before the anthology goes to print, and will ask you to approve or send any final corrections. The timeframe for this is likely to be fairly short – two or three days – so you will need to keep an eye on your inbox!

If you have any questions about the project, please get in touch with Caroline Banerjee, our Student Recruitment Officer.
