Dr Steve Hoath was awarded an International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 1906 award for leading inkjet standards project work during a special presentation at the British Standards Institute Standards Forum in London on November 29 2018.
Steve joined the Inkjet Research Centre in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2005 after having been a Lecturer in Physics and working in industry. His work centres around the understanding of jetting of inkjet fluids from industrial printheads. He was editor of the , Fundamentals of Inkjet Printing: the Science of Inkjet and Droplets.
Created in 2004 by the IEC Executive Committee, the 1906 Award commemorates the IEC's year of foundation and honours IEC experts around the world whose work is fundamental to the IEC. Steve was given the award 'In recognition of his work as project leader of IEC 62899-302-2 about a new Standard for inkjet droplet volume, and work as an active expert participating in IEC TC 119 Working Group3'.
In October, Steve was also a guest speaker at the Flexible and Printed Electronics Korea (FPEK) conference held in Busan, South Korea as part of the International Standards meeting.
