With an array of rides and activities – including a nightmare-themed escape room, an ABBA tribute band and Wolfson's very first Helter Skelter! – guests partied into the early hours of Saturday morning, with a commendable number making it to 5am for the survivor's photo.
"The 2024 鶹ӾMay Ball was a dream to organise and be a part of, pun intended," says May Ball President, Blanche Gonzales de Linares.
"I would like to thank every single person on my amazing team for their hard work, all of the lovely College staff members for their invaluable support, and all of our attendees for making this such a fun night! It was really such a great example of the amazing atmosphere and community that we have here at Wolfson, and it was such an honour to be your May Ball president this year. Enjoy your summer (hoping the nice weather lasts)!"
In a year in which Colleges across Cambridge struggled with May Ball numbers, the triumph of Wolfson’s May Ball was the result of months of planning and work, and a sustained effort behind the scenes: everything from negotiating with food and drink vendors, to decorating the Club Room with disco-mirrored mannequins, to figuring out where to park the Absinthe Bus.
"Congratulations to the May Ball committee and to all those who contributed to making this year's event an extraordinary success," says Domestic Bursar, Darren Smith.
"Thank you to everyone involved, including all the staff, students, and members of the 鶹Ӿcommunity, who put their time and effort into ensuring the event was a night to remember.”

“On behalf of the College, I’d like to congratulate everyone who put on such a successful and well-run May Ball on Friday night. Our guests may not realise just how much hard work goes into organising and running and an event of this scale, nor will they know how many people were involved. Thank you to all the student committee and all the staff involved – the Maintenance Team, the Gardeners, Catering and Conferencing Staff, Housekeeping, Porters, Accounts and administrative staff, the Communications team, the Domestic Bursar, even our Librarian who ran the escape room! Thank you to all those who came along, for your joy and your company. What a happy occasion it was!”
