Join us in conversation with Dr Kevin Greenbank (Centre of South Asian Studies) and Ms Jenni Skinner (Centre of African Studies) on ‘talking archives’.

Overview

This series brings academics from Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çCollege together to discuss research projects, methodologies and their findings. The conversations are inter-disciplinary, thematic and bring into focus the diverse research community in College.

The conversations will be moderated by Prajakti Kalra, Research Networks Manager, Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çCollege.

 

Speakers

Kevin Greenbank is the Vice President of Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çCollege. He completed a PhD in History at Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çin 1998, writing a dissertation on the introduction of apartheid in Cape Town. Since finishing his degree he has worked as the Archivist at the Centre of South Asian Studies. The Centre is a resource for scholars from across the University and has an archive comprising papers, photographs, films and oral history. Much of his work is on the digital preservation and presentation of archive material, in particular film and audio collections, of which the Centre has a large collection, and on which he writes and conducts research.

Jenni Skinner is the African Specialist and Library Manager of the African Studies Library, supporting the research and teaching needs of the University’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate study of Africa, as part of the World Collections Department at Cambridge University Library. Jenni is involved in digitisation projects to uncover and provide access to African archival materials in Cambridge and internationally. She is a Cambridge University Libraries Decolonisation Working Group representative, advisor on the Black Advisory Hub Steering Group, and a member of the Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çCollege Cambridge REACH (Race, Ethnicity, and Cultural Heritage) Research Hub Steering Group.

Access

This event will take place in the Gatsby Room on the first floor of the Chancellor's Centre. It has step-free access with a lift and there is an accessible toilet located each floor of the building.
