"Michaelmas 2023 has been an unprecedented success for WCBC, with our novice crews winning 8 trophies altogether. This kicked off with Queens’ Ergs in early November, where NW2 won as the quickest women’s lower boat and NM1 as the quickest novice crew altogether. This was only the beginning, and trophies followed for NW1 at Emma Sprints and NM1, NM2 and NW2 at Clare Novice Regatta. The term culminated with the Fairbairn Cup: a long, testing race right down the length of the Cam. NW2 won as the quickest novice women’s lower boat after an imperious race, and NM1 made history as the first Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çnovice crew to win the cup - beating second place by 13 seconds.

Seniors have also been in action! Both the men’s and women’s squads have had strong races this term and, with the decorated crop coming through, things are looking very promising for 2024’s Bumps. WCBC will be heading to Portugal in early January for a training camp, and these exhausting four days will provide the perfect platform for our crews to build on last year’s great success. We recently held a 24-hour ergathon to fundraise for these pivotal training opportunities, and

The term culminated in Boat Club Dinner on the 1st December, where we were delighted to have many alumni join and celebrate our success together. The next day, an unveiling ceremony took place for ‘Allison and Tom’ - the excellent new men’s boat, donated by the Ujeski’s. WCBC thanks them once again for their generosity, and we look forward to future success in the boat!"
